Fun, Hands-On Photography Workshops For Kids And Adults!
Photography Skills for Kids
This will be a one-on-one workshop for kids with an interest in photography.
We will talk about how to improve the photos we take using basic photography principles, touch on color theory and the use of black and white photography, plus cover anything of true interest to your child in terms of photography (for instance, if they have a DSLR and want to learn to use the settings, or if they are very interested in nature, etc).
There will be photography assignments designed to be fun while applying some of the principles we discuss together.

PhotoFun is packed with fun, engaging activities for everyone, regardless of age or experience!
This is not a “how to use your camera” workshop— kids can use any camera, including a phone or tablet. PhotoFun combines basic photography instruction with lots of creative, hands-on fun. Activities from my introductory workshops are blended with photo games that explore key photography elements: composition, perspective, and even a bit of photo history! Students will share their work with the group.

Adults & Teens: Intro to Digital Photography I: Unlocking the Mysteries of Your Digital Camera
This workshop will help you understand how to use the settings on your Digital SLR camera to take better photos! You will also learn tricks of composition and focus, plus how to take great indoor photos without using a flash. Also get an overview of lenses and their uses. Whether you are taking family photos, picking up photography as a hobby, or wondering if photography is something you'd like to pursue, this workshop will help you understand basic principles of photography and allow you to take more polished, professional looking shots!

After completing the introductory sessions, students often wish to hone their photography skills further. Melanie offers one-on-one and private group lessons designed specifically to each student's interest and skill level. Various genres and topics may include:

Each additional hour-long lesson is $85 each, per person. Small private groups will be priced according to number of students and focus of the class, please inquire with Melanie.
